Dotykačka integration with Rewardly: loyalty values stored in your till

If you use Dotykačka, you can connect your Rewardly loyalty program directly to it. Customers keep their Rewardly card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and show it to staff at checkout. Dotykačka works with the points, credit and discount that Rewardly writes onto the customer, and once the bill is paid it sends the order back to Rewardly.

This article explains how the connection works, what is stored in Dotykačka, how rewards are redeemed and what to check before you start.

How the connection with Dotykačka works

Dotykačka works differently from the other tills Rewardly connects to. It does not ask Rewardly anything at checkout. Rewardly writes the customer's state into Dotykačka in advance, and the till works with those values.

1. When a customer adds a Rewardly card, Rewardly also creates the customer in Dotykačka. Their barcode matches the card.
2. At checkout, staff scan the card and the till selects that customer.
3. The till uses the values stored on the customer: points, discount group and account balance.
4. Once the order is paid and closed, Dotykačka sends it to Rewardly.
5. Rewardly records the purchase, recalculates the state, writes it back into Dotykačka and updates the card on the customer's phone.

Changes you make in Rewardly, for example adding points or changing a tier, are passed on to Dotykačka. The exception is programs where the till counts the points itself.

What is stored on the customer in Dotykačka

• Points field: one value, either points, stamps or cashback. Cashback is written as points, 100 points per €1.
• Discount group: a percentage discount for members or by tier. A customer has one group, and the one with the highest discount applies.
• Account balance: stored credit. Cashback cannot go here.

Who counts the points: the till or Rewardly

Rewardly picks the method based on your program rules.

Dotykačka counts the points. If your Dotykačka products have points set, the till counts them itself. After each order Rewardly reads the customer's state and shows it on the card on their phone. This suits stamps or points for specific products. You set which products give points, and how many, in Dotykačka or once in Rewardly.

Rewardly counts the points. For points from the purchase amount, stamps per visit or cashback, Rewardly calculates the state and writes the result into Dotykačka.

How rewards are redeemed at the till

Dotykačka does not show a live offer of rewards. Rewards are redeemed through products that Rewardly creates in Dotykačka:

• Free reward: a copy of the product marked FREE!! with a price of €0. Staff ring it up and the till deducts the points.
• Pay with points: a special product that takes 1 point and 1 cent off the bill per unit. This is also how cashback is paid out.
• Credit: you name the product for spending credit yourself and put it in a category you choose or in a new Rewardly category.
• Member discount: applied automatically based on the customer's discount group.

Rewards are not sold for points at the Dotykačka till, and this version of the integration does not support coupons.

Setting up the integration

You start the connection yourself in the Rewardly settings, under integrations.

1. Click to connect Dotykačka, sign in to Dotykačka and allow the Rewardly app.
2. Rewardly sets up the order and product updates itself. There are no webhooks to set up by hand.
3. Rewardly reads your product catalog. After that it refreshes every night, after a product change and on demand.
4. Pair your Dotykačka branches with locations in Rewardly. Create the locations in Rewardly first.
5. In the overview of programs at the till, check whether each program is ready or needs more setup.

Rewardly creates the discount groups and reward products itself when you connect and whenever you edit a program.

Several branches

One connection covers your whole Dotykačka account with all its branches. You pair the branches with Rewardly locations by hand. The member discount then applies the same way at every branch, and purchases are recorded at the right location.

What to check before you start

• Plan: the POS integration is included in the Advanced plan and higher.
• One value in the points field: points, stamps and cashback share one field. If more than one program is counted by the till, you choose a main one.
• Discounts: percentage only, one group per customer. Discount groups may need the Dotykačka discount module, so check this first.
• Customer on the order: an order without a scanned card adds nothing.
• Points from the till: if Dotykačka counts the points, a manual points change in Rewardly does not reach the till.
• Cashback: with a cashback program, make sure your Dotykačka products do not also give their own points.
• Cancellations: if you handle cancellations often, check the process with us before you start.

Frequently asked questions

Does Dotykačka show an offer of Rewardly rewards at checkout?

No. The till works with the values Rewardly has written onto the customer. A live offer of rewards for the whole bill is what PapayaPOS and Storyous show.

Does Rewardly bring over existing customers from Dotykačka?

No. Rewardly creates the customer in Dotykačka when the customer adds a Rewardly card.

Does the customer need an app?

No. They scan the QR code at your counter or open your link and save the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

Who the integration suits

Businesses on Dotykačka with stamps or points for products that the till already counts, and chains with several branches under one account that want the same member discount everywhere.
