2 in 3 customers who open a loyalty join page become members. Where your QR code works best

Data from 48,848 join page visits: 70% of people who arrive directly, for example via an in store QR code, sign up, versus 28% from Instagram.

Svetlofialový obrázok s veľkým modrým údajom 2/3 a bielou kartou s tromi pruhmi: 66 % návštevníkov stránky dokončí registráciu, 98 % ju otvorí na telefóne a 91 % príde priamo, najmä cez QR kód.

Every digital loyalty card starts with a join page, the page behind your loyalty card QR code: the customer opens it, fills in a short form and adds the card to their phone. We looked at 48,848 people who opened the join page of one of 229 businesses on Rewardly between May and September 2026, and at where they came from.

Why it matters for your revenue: every repeat visit is a sale. Rewardly's clients see 30% more repeat visits and 2.5 times higher customer value on average, and café Ráno in Bratislava reports 32% more revenue six months after moving to Rewardly.

The short answer

  • 66% of visitors filled in the form and became members.
  • 98% opened the page on a phone.
  • 91% arrived directly (QR scans, typed addresses and links from apps that hide their source), much of it probably from the QR code in the shop.
  • Visitors who arrived directly became members 70% of the time.
Example in euros: if 300 people open your join page in the first month, about 200 become members. If each of them comes back four more times a year at an average purchase of €5, that is about €4,000 in repeat visits.

Direct visitors sign up most often

  • Directly (QR code in the shop, typed or shared link): 44,607 visitors, 69.6% became members
  • Instagram: 2,554 visitors, 28.4% became members
  • Facebook: 403 visitors, 20.1% became members
Bar chart of join page visitors who became members: 69.6% of 44,607 direct visitors, for example via a QR code, 28.4% of 2,554 from Instagram, 20.1% of 403 from Facebook.

Someone who scans your loyalty card QR code at the counter is standing in your shop, often waiting for their order. Someone who taps a link on Instagram is scrolling, possibly far away, possibly just curious. Visitors who arrive directly join seven times in ten, so a QR code where people pay is worth more than any post. Use Instagram to bring people to the page, and the counter to sign them up.

Made for the phone

98% of visitors open the join page on a phone, probably because a wallet card lives in the phone. If you share the link in a newsletter or on your website, say clearly "open this on your phone". iPhone and Android visitors finish at comparable rates (65% and 71%), so customers on either phone can join.

What a good signup rate looks like

Across the 74 businesses with at least 150 join page visitors, the median business turned 72% of visitors into members, and half of the businesses were between 59% and 79%. If you are below 60%, there is room to improve: start by checking where your visitors come from.

The launch is your biggest moment

Signups come fastest at the start. Among businesses that launched their program between May and mid July 2026 and got it up and running, about one in five of the first 90 days' members joined in the very first week, and about half in the first month. Our suggestion: make the launch a moment, with the QR code everywhere and the whole team offering the card.

Line chart of the share of the first 90 days' members who had joined: 20.5% by day 7, 31.4% by day 14, 51.6% by day 30, 77.8% by day 60 and 100% by day 90.

How Rewardly helps you sign them up

  1. Your QR code and join page are ready from day one. Setup takes 2 minutes, and customers add the card to their wallet in 10 seconds.
  2. Put the QR code where people pay and wait. At the till, on the counter, on the table.
  3. Give staff one sentence. "Would you like the card? It takes 10 seconds." Read one tap loyalty onboarding for how the signup works.
  4. Use Instagram to send people to the counter, and plan the launch as an event. Read how to launch a loyalty program that works.

About the data

  • Anonymised visits to Rewardly join pages, May to September 2026, counted once per browser and business. "Became a member" means the signup form was sent, which creates the membership.
  • "Directly" means the browser reported no source: QR scans, typed addresses and links opened from apps that hide their source. Most of it is probably QR codes, but the exact share cannot be measured. Ad blockers hide some visits, so all counts are floors.
  • Launch figures cover programs that got up and running, meaning at least 20 members in the first 90 days. Test accounts and programs that were set up but never launched are left out.
  • Differences between sources reflect different visitors as much as different channels. Whether each card was then saved in the wallet is not counted, because that happens outside our page.
