More than half of regulars who go quiet for two months come back
Data from nearly 29,000 loyalty cards: 54% of regulars come back even after two quiet months. When they return and how to bring back more of them.

Every business knows the feeling: a familiar face stops coming in, and you assume they are gone for good. The data says otherwise. We followed nearly 29,000 loyalty members at more than 200 businesses on Rewardly who went at least two months without a visit, and checked how many of them came back.
Why it matters for your revenue: every repeat visit is a sale. Rewardly's clients see 30% more repeat visits and 2.5 times higher customer value on average, and café Ráno in Bratislava reports 32% more revenue six months after moving to Rewardly.
The short answer
- 54.2% of regulars (members who had visited at least twice before going quiet) came back after going quiet for two months or more.
- 38.4% of all members who went quiet came back, including those who had visited only once.
- The typical comeback came after about three and a half months away.
- Almost half (46.9%) of those who returned came in three or more times from their comeback on.

A quiet member is not a lost member. Across businesses on Rewardly, more than half of quiet regulars came back: two months without a visit is often a pause, not a goodbye.
Example in euros: if 100 of your regulars go quiet, about 54 come back. The typical returner makes two visits from the comeback on, so at an average purchase of €5 that is about €540 you might have written off.
Coffee lovers come back most
- Cafés and matcha bars: 46.5% of quiet members came back, and 63.3% of quiet regulars.
- Restaurants and bistros: 33.4%, and 50.0% of regulars.
- Bakeries and sweets: 29.8%, and 49.0% of regulars.
- Beauty, nails and fitness: 22.9%, and 29.4% of regulars.

Perhaps because coffee is a daily habit, it seems easier to pick up again. Businesses people visit less often saw fewer comebacks, so a well timed reminder may be worth trying there.
When they come back
Of the members who returned, 39.7% were back within three months of their last visit, and 16.2% only after more than half a year. Some regulars probably just have a busy season, work elsewhere for a while or go on holiday. The card in their phone is still there when they come back.
What this means for you
- Do not write quiet members off. Two months of silence is the moment to remind them, not to give up.
- Give them a reason to return. For example a reward that is close, a small welcome back gift or news about something new.
- Make the comeback visit count. Almost half of the members who returned kept coming. Greet them like regulars.
How Rewardly helps you bring them back
- The card never leaves their phone. It sits in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, so there is nothing to lose or forget at home.
- Win back messages go out on their own. Rewardly can send a push notification automatically to members who have not visited for a while, for example after 30 days.
- You see recent visits. Rewardly analytics shows recent visits and how often members return. For more ideas, read 7 best ways to reactivate customers.
About the data
- Anonymised scans in the Rewardly scanner, May 2025 to October 2026. No business is named or identifiable.
- "Went quiet" means a member visited and then had no visit for more than 60 days. We only counted quiet spells that started by the end of May 2026, so every member had at least four and a half months to come back. A visit is a card scanned on a given day.
- Only businesses that scan cards in the Rewardly app are included, leaving out accounts with gaps in tracking, one business with a different scanning practice and probable staff test cards. The figures describe how members behave; they do not show what made each member return.
