PORTOS vs Storyous:
loyalty for restaurants compared

PORTOS and Storyous both serve restaurants and cafés, and both read loyalty live from Rewardly. The difference is how much of the bill Rewardly sees and how much the till shows.

PORTOS
vs
Storyous

The short answer

Storyous sends the whole open bill to Rewardly and shows a full offer: points, stamps, tier and what the bill earns. PORTOS asks Rewardly for a list of rewards when a customer is selected and checks the conditions itself.

That makes Storyous the more flexible choice for product rules and same bill rewards. PORTOS suits groups where every venue runs its own PORTOS server and wants its own connection.

Why merchants add Rewardly

On both, Rewardly keeps every loyalty value: points, stamps, credit, cashback and rewards. The guest carries the card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and nothing has to be stored in the POS.

  • Customers add the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in about 10 seconds, with no app to download.
  • Businesses on Rewardly see 30% more repeat visits on average.
  • Push notifications land on the lock screen, with a 90% read rate.
  • One program and one card for all your locations, with results for each location.
  • Rewardly does not replace your POS. Sales still run through your till as they do today.
  • POS integrations and push notifications are included in the Advanced, Professional and Enterprise plans.

The differences that matter day to day

What Rewardly sees

Storyous sends the full bill, so Rewardly prices product and category rules on the real order. PORTOS sends no bill at redemption: Rewardly returns discount instructions and the till checks the minimum bill and matching products.

What the till shows

Storyous shows name, points, stamps, tier and an earn preview. PORTOS shows one number, points, and the list of rewards the customer can use.

Rewards that work at the till

Some reward types are not shown at a PORTOS till, for example buy X get Y, more than one free item, or a percentage discount with a maximum amount. A product discount on PORTOS applies to one matching line.

Connecting venues and cancellations

Storyous connects with a code per account and creates a location per place. PORTOS connects each venue's server, which has to be reachable over the internet, with values entered in PORTOS BackOffice or given to PORTOS support. Storyous reverses cancelled bills; PORTOS does not.

Two examples

Illustrative example

A group of four restaurants on PORTOS

Each venue runs its own PORTOS server. The owner connects each venue to the same Rewardly program, so guests collect points in all four.

Illustrative example

A café on Storyous

Breakfast earns double stamps through a category rule. Because Storyous sends the whole bill, Rewardly sees which items belong to the breakfast category.
